March 2023, No-Input, Cat! had their first live appearances, the first in Bill Thompson's annual Intraspect concert series, the second in London's Hundred Years Gallery.
Months and months of rehearsal culminated in two incredible nights of live electronic music, supported by friends, family, and an appearance by Leg himself. They took themselves to stage, staring angrily at their laptops and mixers, and pulled heavy drones, thick digital textures, destroyed loops, pops and clicks, and other sounds a cat might enjoy (or not) out of their respective instruments. Finn West used his laptop to stretch and squash samples into bursts of condensed consonance, Tautvydas Kuliešius scraped, scratched and blew up the sounds of acoustic and found objects, and Ben Mason pounded the speaker system with an unstable digital assault.
In anticipation of further live activity No-Input, Cat! are finally releasing the live recordings of these performances, and they sincerely hope they exist as a digital document of some good music, and as a memory for those involved.
A special thanks to:
Bill Thompson, for his endless support and organisation of Intraspect V
Graham MacKeachan, for being so welcoming and hosting us at Hundred Years Gallery
